Mcmtech API Makes It Easy to Connect With the Tools You Rely On

Some software wants to live in a silo. Ours would rather be a good neighbor.

You rely on a variety of systems—CAD, HR, GIS, Power BI and more. Mcmtech's REST API lets your asset management solution play friendly, and securely, with the tools you already use. Whether you’re looking to sync data, streamline workflows, or eliminate double entry, we make it easy to connect the dots.

What’s a REST API—and why should I care?

Think of our API like a butler. It doesn’t push or interrupt. It just waits patiently for a third-party system to ask for something—then it goes and fetches that information from your Mcmtech data and brings it back neatly packaged.

Is it secure? Absolutely.

Our REST API is designed with security at its core—so you get the flexibility of integration without sacrificing control. Access is always initiated by your systems. Every request requires secure authentication, and permissions ensure systems only retrieve the data they're authorized to access. We use these and other API best practices to safeguard your data and ensure the integrity of your systems:

  • authentication ensures that only authorized users can access the info
  • authorization limits access to resources based on user permissions
  • input validation reviews incoming requests for invalid or malicious code
  • data encryption protects data both at rest and during transmission
  • regular testing proactively assesses security for potential vulnerabilities

So if your ticketing system wants to generate a work order with service request info, or your network monitoring tool wants to update the status of equipment that may need service, our API is ready to plug that info in—securely, with no digging and no hassle.

Creative Customer Approaches to our API

CAD IntegrationCalifornia county sheriff’s office - Dispatch uses the API to see who a radio is assigned to—or what vehicle it’s installed in—without making a call or searching manually. The result? Faster decisions and better situational awareness in the field.

Network Monitoring IntegrationMidwest public safety comms team - When Ops Bridge detects a failing asset, it uses the API to update the asset’s status to “Failure – Alert”—triggering notifications and creating a work order for immediate action.

Reporting + BI Dashboard Integrationmajor Southeast city - Work order data is pulled from Mcmtech into a BI platform, giving leadership a clear view of metrics across departments and systems. This lets teams avoid having to migrate from Mcmtech’s purpose-built tools to generic platforms just to meet reporting requirements. (Oops, did we say the quiet part out loud?)

What kind of data can your third-party systems request or update?

If it lives in your Mcmtech system, it’s probably available with the right connection built. Here are just a few ideas:

  • agency + employee records - new departments, locations, staff adds, changes
  • asset records - assignment history, location, status, warranty, cost, age
  • inventory data - stock levels, reorder points, storage area, part numbers
  • work orders - linked assets, ticket status, assigned techs, repair notes
  • purchasing - assets purchased, inventory items on order, items received

Need something else? We can likely make it happen.

Other common use cases in action

Here’s how agencies might put our API to work to streamline workflows, improve visibility and make the most of existing tools.

human resources (HR) - When an employee is hired or leaves, their status is automatically updated—so equipment issuance and/or return can be handled promptly and accurately.

work order ticketing systems - Third-party ticketing tools are far more effective when they can confirm that issues were resolved and required actions were completed.

geographic information systems (GIS) - Overlay asset and inspection data onto maps showing infrastructure like BDAs or radio towers to plan fieldwork or monitor coverage more effectively.

Why this matters

When your tools talk to each other, your team can collaborate instead of copy-paste. With our API, you get a reliable way to share mission-critical data between platforms—reducing manual entry, improving accuracy, saving time, and giving your teams the insights they need to work smarter. Need something beyond the API? Our engineers can build custom, secure integrations to meet your data-sharing needs.
