Daniel E. Catan, President & Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Catan joined MCM in June 2006. He is an experienced application software industry veteran having spent the majority of his career as an executive responsible for the disciplines of sales and marketing. Prior to joining MCM, Mr. Catan was a Regional Director for Oracle / PeopleSoft Corporation's Public Sector Practice (Government, Transportation, Healthcare, Education & Utilities) for 5 years, with management responsibility for directing the Sales and Marketing efforts across the United States. Previous to that Catan served in a Senior Management capacity at several small to medium-sized Software and Service companies targeted at the Telcom, Public Sector and Internet Marketplaces. In one of those companies, in less than 3 years, Catan drove the revenue from $30M to $100M in revenue, assimilated 5 acquisitions and drove an IPO. Previous to that, Catan was VP for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, with management and strategic responsibility for driving $1 Billion of sponsorship revenue. Catan's career started with a 14 year stint at IBM, where he held a number of Sales, Marketing and Management assignments, where he generated results that were recognized worldwide at IBM. Catan graduated from St. John Fisher College, Rochester, NY with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Science. He and his wife Mary have three children.
Thomas A. Bartels, VP, Finance & Operations
Tom joined MCM in April 2005. He has significant experience in the organization, financing and management of various start-up and emerging growth companies. Prior to joining MCM, he served as Chief Financial Officer of Regional Nuclear Pharmaceuticals, a specialty pharma manufacturer. He served in the same capacity at Atherotech, Inc., a clinical diagnostic reference laboratory and exclusive provider of the VAP Cholesterol Test. Prior to Atherotech, he served as Treasurer of RealMed, a software company serving healthcare providers and insurers. Concurrent to his duties with RealMed, he worked with Venturehouse LLC, a venture capital and financial advisory investment firm. At each of these companies, Bartels has been instrumental in providing strategic guidance, capital-raising expertise, development of appropriate management and infrastructure, development of relationships with bankers, analysts and other strategic partners, as well as the overall management of the day-to-day administrative tasks of operating an emerging growth company. He also has public company experience, serving as Director of Investor Relations at Caremark, and also at OrNda HealthCorp in Nashville. He also served as Vice President in the commercial lending area at SouthTrust Bank in Birmingham. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Finance from Auburn University (1986) and an MBA from The University of Alabama at Birmingham (1990). He recently served as a member of Compass Bank's Young Executive Board of Directors, and is a member of the Birmingham Venture Club. He and his wife Sherri have two children.
John Leonard, VP, Sales
Now in his 30th year in Public Safety, John has a distinguished background in Sales and Marketing with some of the more recognized Public Safety software vendors in the industry. Early in his career Mr. Leonard was as a Paramedic in New York City and Boston for over 11 years. As a Sales Executive, John has a history of managing rapid sales growth with a strict, disciplined approach. Prior to joining MCM in February 2008, Mr. Leonard was the Vice President of Sales at VisionAIR. Earlier in his career he was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for EmergiTech, Inc. Leonard also served as World Wide Director of Public Safety for Stratus Technologies, where he was responsible for introducing Stratus to a channel driven sales focus with sales targeted at the local, state and federal government Public Safety market. During this time he also led the efforts of international expansion to over (28) countries and revenues increased 30-fold. Prior to Stratus, Mr. Leonard served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Pamet Systems where he was recruited by a newly-appointed CEO to assist in the "turnaround effort" for this publicly traded software company. The company became operationally profitable just nine months after Mr. Leonard joined the company. Mr. Leonard also helped found and lead a start-up software business that developed and copyrighted the 1st handheld solution used to access state, local and federal databases for law enforcement. The company was successfully sold to Bio-Key, Inc., a leading Public Safety bio-metrics and mobile software company. He is in his 5th year as the Chairman of the Membership and Outreach Committees for the Integrated Justice Information Systems Institute (IJIS). He holds a bachelor's degree from Springfield College in Massachusetts and is a Graduate of the Northeastern University Paramedic Program in Boston. John and his wife Mary have three children.
Jon Campbell, VP, Engineering & Client Services
Jon has been with MCM since 2000. He has over 14 years experience in the IT and network solutions disciplines. Along with heavy influence and direction in application development, Jon's primary role has been to manage all client implementations and client support. He is responsible for managing MCM's project implementation teams and has developed the appropriate processes, protocols, training materials, etc. for project successful implementations. Campbell also works closely with the Company's sales team, assisting in the sales process by performing client demos, as well as interfacing with the client's IT staff to engineer the project. Jon is a graduate of The University of Alabama's IT Program and holds several networking and IT certifications.
Kurt Abts, VP, Software Application Development
Kurt is the most tenured of the technical staff at MCM. He has over 22 years experience in communications software applications, specifically in the wireless and public safety sector. He has implemented over 300 systems, both domestically and internationally. His experience is broad and his knowledge of the wireless communications industry is unmatched. Kurt has been instrumental in the design and development of MCM's applications. Kurt holds a degree in Computer Science from Jefferson State Junior College.
