Oakland, CA to Utilize MCM Technology's Software Application for Management of Communication Assets
Oakland Joins A Growing List of West Coast Clients
November 8, 2007... BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA, The City of Oakland, California's Wireless Communications Group, a division of Information Technology, has chosen MCM Technology's CommSHOP 360° ™ Software Solution to manage its mission-critical communications assets and all of the service and repair efforts related to maintaining these assets and its wireless communication systems. Oakland joins a growing list of West Coast public safety wireless communications shops that stretch from as far north as Northern Washington State to Southern California. Neighboring Marin County, California is a current client of MCM, and others are soon to follow.
The MCM CommSHOP 360° ™ Platform contains several modules which work interdependently to meet both asset and service shop management needs including customer service, asset inventory and lifecycle tracking, service shop costing and productivity, parts inventory and purchasing, and project management and reporting. Specifically, MCM will provide Oakland the ability to manage the full life cycle of all first-responder, mission-critical communications assets, which also includes the important tasks of properly maintaining and repairing all equipment as well as monitoring the costs of such repair efforts. Such communications equipment may include portable radios, mobile radios, mobile data terminals, laptops, tower site equipment and any other mission-critical communications equipment that is essential to the life and property-saving operations of the City's first responders. The timing of the MCM project corresponds with the current FCC 800MHz Reconfiguration Mandate whereby Oakland will be replacing the majority of their existing 4,000 subscriber units and also rolling out its new Police Mobile Data Terminal upgrade and new In-Car Audio Visual System. The MCM project will ensure that these new and reconfigured assets are properly recorded and tracked from the beginning of their lifecycle to the end.
The City of Oakland's Project Manager, Orval "O.B." Badger stated, "We conducted an extensive search for an application that would allow us to properly manage our communications assets. After our research, it was very evident that MCM had the only solution that addressed our needs. Not only did we find a very powerful software solution, but we found a group of technical professionals who clearly understand the unique nature and needs of a wireless communications shop. The entire team at MCM was as professional and helpful as any software provider we have worked with"
Commenting on The City of Oakland's decision, MCM Chief Executive Officer Dan Catan added, "We have truly enjoyed our new relationship with Mr. Badger and his team. He is clearly a thought-leader in his industry and is demonstrating his leadership by his recognition of the value that the MCM Application can bring to his constituents, the taxpayers of the City of Oakland. He is serving his city well, and we are looking forward to a long relationship with the City of Oakland."
